A free, one-day soccer event for young women and girls, presented by BMO.

U16 and U17 Girls (born 2007 and 2008)

Interested in being a soccer coach? You can get certified for free through BMO Girls Play ON! Morning workshops will be offered to a handful of U16 and U17 girls. By the afternoon, participants will put their new coaching skills to use in a 3v3 style tournament.

U7 and U8 girls (born 2016 and 2017)

During the afternoon session, Girls in the U7 and U8 age divisions will split into small teams for a 3v3 FunFest. Each group will be assigned a newly-trained coach for the afternoon. Participants will also receive a BMO swag bag!

BMO Girls Play ON! is an innovative new girls’ soccer activation and leadership day, engaging girls through coaching and playing opportunities.

The program will create a safe and inclusive environment where girls can:

• Enjoy a social setting;
• Play the game they love;
• Learn about coaching;
• Mentor and mentee with girl coaches and facilitators.

By participating in this program, girls will be inspired to stay in soccer longer. They will also aspire to continue their soccer career in other avenues than simply playing (coaching, refereeing, volunteering, etc.).

BMO and Ontario Soccer are excited to partner with Thunder Bay Chill to deliver this event to the Indigenous youth in the north! The festival will run with a 2v2 format - to maximize fun and enjoyment!

Who:

Indigenous youth 4 to 14 years of age. Age bands will be divided as follows:

• 4-5 years old
• 6-8 years old
• 9-11 years old
• 12-14 years old
