Chris Shewfelt has been added to the roster of Ontario Soccer Summit presenters and he will bring another dimension to this year's overall experience as well as bolster the Club Development stream.
Shewfelt is the Senior Director of Global Partnerships at Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment (MLSE) and he will be presenting on "Corporate Partnership Success." He is responsible for managing significant projects such as naming rights and jersey negotiations, department research, and top-5 category partnerships.
Shewfelt played an instrumental role in securing long-term partnership agreements with key brands such as Canadian Tire and Ford of Canada for MLSE properties and was the Partnerships Projects Manager for the BMO Field expansion. He leads the team that led the NHL in partnership revenue, led the NBA in partnership retention, and won the 2013 & 2014 MLS Partnership Activation Award.
“As part of a sustainable funding mix at all levels of our sport, partnership revenues are becoming ever more important in light of decreasing membership fees and government grants," satid Bjorn Osieck, OSA Director of Business Development. “We are thrilled to have one of Canada’s brightest business leaders, Chris Shewfelt as Senior Director of Global Partnerships of our friends at Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment, join us at this year’s Ontario Soccer Summit to share some of his vast partnership management knowledge with our delegates.”
“Chris has been a trailblazer in working with big corporate Canadian Blue Chip brands like Canadian Tire and Ford of Canada and excelling in partnership activation and retention for the Leafs, the Raptors AND TFC. His market leading expertise will be a real highlight and eye opener for our administrative leaders at the Ontario Soccer Summit.”
