Eight Ontario players selected for 2018 NWSL allocations

Canada Soccer recently announced the women's national team players that will be participating

Canada Soccer has announced the eleven Canadian Women’s National Team players allocated to the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL), including nine returning players and two additions.  The 2018 allocation list includes Rebecca Quinn, previously of Duke University, who was selected the highest of any Canadian in the NWSL College Draft at No. 3 overall.
 
“Canada Soccer is pleased to continue to support members of our Women’s National Team in their careers with the National Women's Soccer League for the sixth consecutive year,” said Peter Montopoli, General Secretary, Canada Soccer.  “The NWSL continues to provide a competitive environment for our players, ensuring they have access to high level competition to keep them at the top of their game.”
 
The National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) is a nine-team Division-I women’s professional soccer league featuring national team players from around the world, with Canadian and U.S. National Team players allocated by Canada Soccer and US Soccer.
 
 “The partnership between Canada Soccer, US Soccer and the NWSL is an unique and valuable relationship that is contributing to the growth of the women’s game in North America, both in the professional realm, but also off the pitch for the many young fans who look up to their NWSL heroes,” added Montopoli.
 
The following Canadian Women’s National Team players have been allocated by Canada Soccer to the NWSL for the 2018 season:
 
FB Allysha Chapman, age 29, from Courtice, ON/ North Carolina Courage
CB Shelina Zadorsky, age 25, from London, ON/ Orlando Pride
M Rebecca Quinn*, age 22, from Toronto, ON/ Washington Spirit

M Desiree Scott, age 30, from Winnipeg, MB/ Utah Royals FC
M Diana Matheson, age 33, from Oakville, ON/Utah Royals FC
F Christine Sinclair, age 34, from Burnaby, BC/ Portland Thorns
F Janine Beckie, age 23, from Highlands Ranch, CO/ Sky Blue FC
F Adriana Leon*, age 25, from King City, ON/ Sky Blue FC
F Nichelle Prince, age 22, from Ajax, ON/ Houston Dash
GK Sabrina D’Angelo, age 24, from Welland, ON/ North Carolina Courage
GK Kailen Sheridan, age 22, from Whitby, ON/Sky Blue FC

The nine teams competing in the 2018 NWSL season are the Chicago Red Stars. Houston Dash, North Carolina Courage, Orlando Pride, Portland Thorns FC,  Seattle Reign FC,  Sky Blue FC, Utah Royals FC and Washington Spirit.
