Second half brace by Riley Bonadie leads team to victory

Play. Inspire. Unite.

The U-13 Girls Ontario Cup Final featured the Oshawa Kicks Synergy taking on the Cumberland Cobras Academy in a great display of youth talent in Ontario.

The Cobras would strike first when an unfortunate bounce hit the hand of an Oshawa defender, resulting in a penalty in the 28th minute.

Vanessa Wynn would step to the spot for her squad and make no mistake, slotting her shot casually into the corner making it 1-0 Cumberland.

Oshawa wouldn’t shrink from the misfortune however and would continue to press.

They would be rewarded for their efforts early in the second half when Katharine Stewart did well to receive the ball and turn in one motion.

She sprung herself in on net and her shot beat the Cumberland keeper to knot the score at 1-1.

That was short lived however as Cumberland immediately answered back when Riley Bonadie made a great individual effort down the line, cut back and buried her shot into the back of the net, restoring the Cumberland lead to 2-1.

They would increase their lead again when Flavie Dube crossed the ball into the box and found the foot of Bonadie who calmly slotted the ball home, making it 3-1.

That would be all they would need and Cumberland cruised the rest of the way, capturing the U-13 Girls Ontario Cup title.
