The U-15 Boys Tier 1 Ontario Cup Final between the Woodbridge Strikers and London Youth Whitecaps Blue was an end-to-end, entertaining affair.

London had the run of play early but it was Woodbridge who broke through first.

The Strikers got things going when Tandeep Banga got on the end of a corner kick and headed it into the back of the net to make it 1-0.

London equalized 10 minutes later when Carson Wood found a loose ball in the box and made no mistake to level the score at 1-1.

The teams would trade chances throughout the remainder of the first half but neither would find the net again until the second 45.

Five minutes after the restart, it was London’s turn to be on the front foot. Justin Olawabi got on the end of a cross of his own and headed it down uncontested to make it 2-1 London in the 50th minute.

Set pieces continued to be the story as the game wore on. London added to their advantage off a corner kick when Jaxon Nolte pounced on a ball in the 65th minute, making no mistake to lift his team to a 3-1 lead.

London’s Caleb Roberts increased the lead to 4-1 on a fantastic individual effort. He wove his way through the Woodbridge defence before blasting his shot into the back of the net.

That would be all they would need and London would be crowned U-15 Boys Tier 1 Ontario Cup champions.

With the win, the London Youth Whitecaps Blue now qualify for the 2017 Toyota National Championships, which will be hosted in Calgary beginning on Oct. 4.
