Play. Inspire. Unite.

The OPDL Spotlight Series, presented by Toronto FC, highlights stories, teams and initiatives from around the league.

This week features comments from Angelo DiBenedetto, Technical Manager of Kleinburg Nobleton Soccer Club.

How has OPDL impacted your organization?

As an OPDL Licence Holder since its inaugural season, this is Kleinburg Nobleton S.C.’s fourth year representing and contributing to the high standards program.

Offering a venue within the Talented Pathway model for players to be detected into future Provincial Screening Competitions. KNSC presents the best service possible in Facilities, Coaching and Governance.

The club is proud once again to be the recipient of the “Gold” Award of Club Excellence, presented by Ontario Soccer.

How does your organization attract and foster talent?

KNSC provides an organized, safe and fun environment in the grassroots and competitive development stages.

Coaches are educated and trained in understanding the LTPD and Matrix plan, in doing everything to provide the best possible learning environment, all while using quality training facilities.

By providing a holistic training curriculum, KNSC’s true measure of success is the return of registered players coming back year after year.

How does your organization create the best environment to develop players in accordance with OPDL standards?

KNSC provides excellent facilities and training fields, with highly qualified licenced coaches conducting age appropriate, high intensity training sessions.

Year round training is provided in a periodization plan. That also covers fitness, strength and conditioning, injury prevention, nutrition and lifestyle management.

Monitoring and assessing player development are key tools to support the training plans effectiveness. Another method is the use of game video analysis, players are provided with a visual to learn from and strive for improvements.

How are players/coaches/administrators/match officials motivated to achieve their best performance?

The Executive Directors, Technical Directors, administrators, staff and volunteers work together as a team, in a positive environment in order to provide all members the opportunity to achieve his/her fullest potential.

The club staff and volunteers motivation is to showcase the player’s soccer skills, holding all members to the highest standards of ethical behavior and sportsmanship.

The development of a player’s character is as important as developing a fully rounded athlete. It is essential to have a player represent themselves and the club in a positive manner, for KNSC looks to develop skilled soccer players and responsible citizens.
