This week's session is a passing session for Fundamentals

Play. Inspire. Unite.

The Player Development department continues to put together a practice for coaches to use with their players across the province.

Each week will focus on one of the three LTPD development stages at the Grassroots level, which includes Active Start, FUNdamentals, and Learn to Train.

In this week’s session, the Grassroots department has focused on passing for Fundamentals.

Players look to identify spaces and gaps to pass through. They do this from the start by working on their physical literacy and look to transfer the ball through as many gaps or spaces as possible. Players then play 2v2 as they look to combine with their team mate and recognise if the line to goal is clear and score on the target.

Players then have the opportunity for lots of repetitions of the technique with the ball on the floor, coaches can then increase the difficulty by adding in defenders as encouraging non-verbal communication from the receiving player to make the passes more accurate and judge the weight of pass. Players then have the opportunity to apply all this in a game with free play and normal rules apply.
