“As the Ontario Soccer Summit has grown so too has the programming that we’re providing for Ontario’s match officials,” said Nicky Pearson, Manager of Match Official Development. “We’re proud to have back one of the most notable faces in the match official community in Joe Fletcher. His expertise is invaluable to young officials. And we’re excited to offer a whole range of new programming in 2017.”
Fletcher was chosen to the list of FIFA Assistant Referees in 2007 and since then he has refereed at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, 2013 World Club Cup in Morocco and the 2011 FIFA U20 World Cup in Columbia.

“There are not enough educational opportunities for match officials, yet we need to learn and improve the same way players do,” Fletcher said. “At the Ontario Soccer Summit, referees have the chance to do some practical on-field training as well as classroom teaching with the best instructors the province has to offer, alongside Ontario's top match officials.”
