The highly anticipated opening matches for League1 Ontario did not disappoint as the teams kicked off an exciting start to the season last weekend.

The Oakville Blue Devils started their season strongly with a comfortable 5-0 win against newcomers Sanjaxx Lions.  The latter three goals were scored in the last 15 minutes after the Lions' keeper was handed a red for handling the ball outside the box.

Vaughan Azzurri came out victorious against last season's League1 Ontario champions, Toronto FC Academy, with a 3-1 win. Azzurri's central striker Mario Kovacevic shined in this opening match, as both coaches attributed Azzurri's success to his influence.

ANB Futbol's high tempo possession game beat out the Kingston Clippers' strong defensive line with a late goal for a 1-0 result.

Meanwhile, Woodbridge Strikers also won 1-0 against Windsor Strikers, but they did so with an early third minute goal by midfielder Oscar Cordon.

Sigma F.C. also walked away with three points this week as they beat out the homeside team, Master's FA Saints, with two late goals in the last ten minutes, ending the game at 2-1.

An early second minute goal paved the path for 2-0 by the Durham United F.C. against Pro Stars F.C. at Lamport Stadium.  Durham United's Keeper, Ben Cowman, stayed strong in the second half to keep a cleansheet for the Durham side.
