Top Teams In Tight Battle For League1 Ontario Titles

Exciting results from this past week puts the top two teams from each division in a tight battle for their respective League1 Ontario titles.  Durham United F.C. is now one point away from claiming the title.  On the Men's side, Oakville Blue Devils are just three points from clinching the title, but Woodbridge is hot on their heels.  If Woodbridge loses on Wednesday night, however, Oakville will claim the title.  Learn more about the past week's matches below.

Men's Division

Sigma F.C. presented a difficult match for Woodbridge Strikers but ultimately, the Strikers came out on top with a 3-2 win. The Woodbridge side must win all their remaining matches, and hope for the Oakville Blue Devils to drop point, to have a shot at the title. The Strikers must win their Wednesday night match this week in order to stay in the race.  

Oakville Blue Devils are one win away from clinching the 2015 League1 Ontario men's title, but Toronto FC Academy denied them by continuing their red-hot form for a 2-1 victory.

Windsor Stars finally broke their losing streak by drawing Durham United F.C. at home on Friday evening, yielding a 1-1 result.  

Sanjaxx Lions and Kingston Clippers put forth two young squads to compete in an exciting match.  The Clippers went ahead by two, but the Lions came back with 3 goals to earn three points.  

ANB Futbol's 4-1 victory against Master's FA Saints put their star player, Adonijah Reid, into a shared lead for the 2015 men's golden boot race.  

Women's Division

Vaughan Azzurri hosted Durham United at the Ontario Soccer Centre, and put a dent in Durham's title ambitions by beating them in a tight 2-1 victory.  

After their 2-1 loss to Vaughan Azzurri, Durham United F.C. came back strong and defeated ANB Futbol 6-0 to secure much needed points towards their chance at the title.  They are now just one point away from securing the title.  

Despite strong possession in the first half and a 21st minute goal, Pro Stars ended up drawing against Vaughan Azzurri as they regained their composure and equalized in the 61st minute.
