The Ontario Soccer Association's goal is to deliver the best player centred programs in Canada. The following Player Development initiatives will be piloted during the outdoor season in 2016. The pilots will be conducted at the under 8 age group (FUNdamentals) in the development stream of grassroots soccer.

Creating the Best Environment – This is a controlled pilot in Durham Region Soccer Association (DRSA) and Hamilton and District Soccer Association (H&DSA).

A scorecard will be completed by each program coach or manager during each game. The opposing teams, players, parents and coaches will be scored on their behaviour during each game.

4 up – 1 up – This is a controlled pilot in Eastern Ontario District Soccer Association (EODSA), Huronia District Soccer Association (HDSA) and Durham Region Soccer Association (DRSA).
If a team is leading by four (4) goals the losing team can add one player to their team. If the score is reduced to below four (4) then the team with the additional player will resort back to equal numbers.

Let us Play - Pilot in all Districts

If a team has fewer players than is required to play the game, this team can borrow the required number of players from the opposing team so that the game may take place. Player Development staff will work with District technical and administrative staff in communication and education programs prior to the start of the pilots and will also be monitoring the programs during the 2016 outdoor season.

An analysis of the three pilots will be conducted at the end of the season; any future plans for these programs will be communicated prior to the 2017 season.
