In order to address recent questions regarding the Provincial Player Program Pathway, the OSA High Performance department has issued the following clarifications.
If any OSA Membership Player is identified into either a Provincial Screening Competition (PSC), Provincial Projects (PP), or Provincial Team (PT) they will be ineligible to participate in a future Talent on Location Days (TOLD) or Provincial Screening Competition (PSC). The only exception to this is if the player lives in excess of 100km’s of an OPDL Club Team within their playing age group. The 100km distance is determined as being the shortest driving distance (excluding toll roads) one way from the player’s residence to the OPDL Club House location and or field training or game location(s).
Breakdown of eligibility
Players competing within the OPDL are eligible for possible identification into PSC programs at U14, U15 or U16. A player who leaves the OPDL will not be eligible to be included in future PSC events. An exception only applies if the player lives in excess of 100km’s of an OPDL Club Team within their playing age group.
TOLD events operate at the U13, U14 and U15 age groups, which are in alignment with the PT Programs at U14, U15 or U16. All OSA membership players are eligible to request an invite to attend a TOLD event at the age of U13 via a recommendation process from an OSA Membership Club or Academy.
PSC events are conducted annually in November. They consist of players who are scouted and identified within the OPDL and players who are identified in the TOLD. If an identified player from a TOLD attends their PSC event, in order to be eligible to be invited into the following season’s PSC the player has until the following November to provide evidence that they have registered with an OPDL Club Team or League1 Ontario team.
An exception applies if the player lives in excess of 100km’s of an OPDL Club Team within their playing age group. If the player has an OPDL Club Team within 100km’s operating a team within their age group, they must join that OPDL Club Team in order to be eligible for an invite into the PSC events in the upcoming season.
The above applies should the player attend the PSC event and then be identified into either the PP and or the PT events.
A player who lives outside of the 100km’s distance criteria that are released at either the PSC or PP level, are eligible to request an invite for the following seasons TOLD via a recommendation.
A player who lives outside of the 100km’s distance criteria and are selected to the PT, provided that they still live outside of the 100km’s distance the following season, will be eligible to be invited into the PSC the following season.
If an OSA membership player attends a TOLD and is not identified, they are eligible to request and invite into the TOLD the following season via a recommendation. They are not required to provide evidence that they have indeed registered with an OPDL Club Team or League1 Ontario team in order to be eligible to be invited into the upcoming season’s TOLD.
Specific date and location details for the season’s TOLD, PSC, PP and PT will appear on the OPDL website once established.
