The OSA's Competitions and Events department has a packed schedule throughout the year and 2014 was no different.
With new leagues starting up, the traditional programming throughout the year that are OSA staples and a full slate of events, 2014 was one of the busiest in recent memory for the department.
Here are just a few of the highlights from their year:
- Ontario Indoor Cup - There were eight champions crowned in January and February
- Ontario Futsal Cup - One champion was crowned, a showcase game was put on for all to see and a guest clinician participated in this February event
- Coaches Conference - Held in March at the Soccer Centre in Vaughan, over 400 participants took part in this ever growing event
- Soccer Conference, AGM and Awards Banquet - Held in April at Holiday Inn Toronto Airport, this annual event was called one of the best in recent years
- Hosted Quebec - Ontario Competition for U14, U15 and U16 provincial teams in Oshawa in May
- The department managed game day operations for OPDL throughout season
- Ontario Summer Games - Two Ontario Cup Champions were crowned in August at this event held in Windsor
- Ontario Cup - Over 475 teams participated as 21 Champions were crowned in July and September
- Hosted Men's and Women's National Club Championships - Challenge Trophy and Jubliee Trophy champions were crowned in October in Vaughan
- At the National Championships, Ontario teams took home five Gold Medals, two Silver Medals and a Bronze Medal in eight out of 10 divisions
- At Coupe Quebec-Ontario Cup, held in Quebec in October, Ontario took home both the Men's/Boys and the Women's/Girls Trophies
- The Hall of Fame Banquet - held in November in Vaughan - attracted national media interest and saw attendees fly in from across the continent for the inductions ceremonies.
