The OSA recently ran the first Technical Directors Diploma course of its kind, hosted at the Ontario Soccer Centre.

The course provided candidates with a foundation of information to prepare them to effectively fulfill the Technical Director role within a club environment. The course was a mix of both classroom and on field components over the period of the four days.

"I was really encouraged by the group that we had attend the OSA TD Course," Gary Miller, OSA Technical Director, said. "These people are leaders in our communities and to see them come together to work towards common development is a sign of the positive direction we're headed."

Bobby Lennox, OSA Manager of Player Development, echoed the importance of building these bonds in the community.

"The current position of TD in Ontairo is disjointed. TD's from club to club having varying responsibilties," Lennox said. "As a province, part of what we'd like to see is a streamlining of that role. We're beginning to see the fruits of our labour and bringing like-minded people together only reinforces that."

Mark Marshall, OSA Manager of Coaching Development, spoke about their continued efforts to reach the community.

"As the Coaching Development department we look to our club and district technical directors to be leaders in our community," Mark Marshall, Manager of Coaching Development said. "Helping to round out some of their skills - whether it's on the technical or even business side of the game - will have a trickle down effect into their communities. We look forward to hosting more courses like this in the future."

This course was a sell-out event. The next will be held in November 2016. Contact the OSA Coaching Development Department for more information.
