The Ontario Soccer Association is continuing to invest in the education of Ontario's match officials.

Last weekend marked the 1st Annual Elite Match Officials Training Camp. Held in Vaughan, officials traveled from Windsor, Ottawa, Kingston and all across southwestern Ontario to attend this mandatory pre-season camp.

This camp is a product of an exciting, new partnership between League1 Ontario, OUA, OCAA and the OSA designed to help the best officials in the province up their game.

Led by League1 Ontario Director Of Officials Tony Camacho, FIFA/National Instructors Amato DeLuca, Joe Audi and Isaac Raymond, over 60 match officials attended the two days of practical and in-class training sessions.

The training covered a number of topics, which included: interference and offside, dissent, DOGSO (denying obvious goal scoring opportunity), mass confrontation and assisting the referee.

Additionally, specific sessions were held to discuss each league's expectations as well as a Q&A session.

This is intended to become an annual event, where officials are identified to help further their development.
