Team Position Status (TPS) which entitled Clubs to operate a team in a division of a league based on "Team Movement" has been removed from the OSA's Operational Procedure in its entirety as of February 1, 2016.

This recommendation was provided by the OSA League Management Committee in order to align with the 'Player Centred' and 'Player Movement' philosophy rather than 'Team Movement'.

A Club can re-apply to a League if it finished in a 'neutral' position (i.e. a position that was neither a promotion or relegation spot) or apply to a League for the promotion spot it has earned as per League Procedure 17.1.1:

  • 17.1.1 A Club may only apply to a league for which it already has, or has qualified to have, the Team Position for the appropriate division of that league.

With this change, a league place that is not filled by the eligible team should be filled by promotion or relegation:

  1. Promotion of an additional team from its feeder division (subject to the 6 point rule) or
  2. Retaining the best placed team that would have been in line for relegation.

Clubs and all applicable Leagues should be aware and notified of this prior to the start of their respective seasons.

All matters of promotion/ relegation and team placement regarding Regional and Provincial leagues are subject to review and confirmation of the OSA League Management Committee.
