The Sudbury District Soccer Club's U-17 Central Soccer League team have been witness to how devastating a cancer prognosis can be when a family member of their teammate fell ill.

Wanting to support their friend, they have launched a campaign to raise funds to support and draw awareness to cancer.

A "Pink on the Pitch" soccer match will take place on Saturday June 11, at 1:00 p.m. at the Delki Dozi Soccer Field as they take on SC Toronto.

A second game event is scheduled for August 23 at 7:30 p.m. at James Jerome Turf as an exhibition game against the Laurentian Lady Vee.

During these two soccer matches, "Crush Cancer" t-shirts will be available for purchase at a cost of $10.00, proceeds of which will be donated to their local Cancer Societ. .

Anyone wishing to pre-order t-shirts can do so by sending an email request prior to May 25, 2016. Those not wishing to purchase a t-shirt but wanting to support the cause, are welcome to simply make a donation at the time of the event. A table will be set up at both events for this purpose and the U-17's are hoping to fill the stands with "Pink" and fill the donation jars with green.

Update

The Sudbury squad were approached by the Woodbridge Strikers team at a tournament in Oshawa. The Strikers wanted to support their cancer fundraising efforts and purchased a team set of pink “crush cancer” t-shirts which they used in their warm up May 28 in their season opener in Sudbury.

Update #2

The Ajax U-17 Boys have purchased a full team set of pinks to use as warm up jerseys.
