A pair of goals from their centrebacks proved to be the difference as Milton defeated Burlington 2-0

In the U-15 Boys division, the Burlington Bayhawks took on the Milton Magic in the Ontario Cup final, with the winner advancing on to the Toyota National Championships.

After each side traded chances early, Milton was the first to get themselves on the board.

After a quick free kick was taken, Milton’s centreback Noah Bickford skied over the defenders to head the ball into the back of the net and make it 1-0 for his side in the 15th minute.

Milton’s keeper Dante Carraro was called on a number of times in the first half and was up to the task time and again keeping his team in the match with numerous saves throughout the first 45.

It would be another quick start in the second half by Milton as they added a second goal two minutes after the second half restart.

Denis Neziri pounced on a loose ball in the box and his shot went bar down, the second goal by a Milton centreback in the match.

That would be all Milton would need as they would shut it down the rest of the way as Carraro claimed the shutout and Milton won the U-15 Boys Ontario Cup title.

Milton now moves on to the U-15 Toyota National Championship, which will be held in Edmonton, Alberta from Oct. 9 until Oct. 14.
