Important Update for New Coaching Program For Ontario in 2012

As of January 2012, the following Community Coaching Certificate Courses are no longer available.

·       Community Children (6-10yrs)

·       Community Youth (10-14yrs)

·       Community Senior (14-18+yrs)

These courses are now replaced with new content which is based on the Wellness to World Cup Long-Term Player Development Program (LTPD) developed by the CSA focused on the needs of players at different development stages:

NEW Community Coaching Courses

The Canadian Soccer Association (CSA) has now completed work on the Community Stream for the new coaching program. The courses in the new program are now available in Ontario. Click Here to access a list of coaching courses in Ontario.

Requirements and Recommendations 2012

Coaches and Assistant Coaches who have completed the old Community Certificate (Senior) need to only complete the Respect in Soccer course to coach in the 2012 season.

New Coaches and Assistant in 2012 of teams that compete in the one of the following designated levels of competition

  • Senior Outdoor League Level 1 to League Level 5
  • Senior Indoor League Level 1 to Level 5
  • Senior Futsal League Level 1 to Level 5
  • Ontario Cup Competition Youth and Senior (Outdoor, Indoor and Futsal)
  • Youth Outdoor League Level 1 to Level 5
  • Mini Soccer Outdoor League Level 5
  • Youth Indoor League Level 1 to Level 5
  • Youth Futsal League Level 1 to Level 5

will be required to complete the appropriate coaching course within the new community coaching pathway.

Coaches of teams with players U9 - U12 Male / U8 - U11 Female

    • Completion of the new ”Learning To Train” course with Respect In Soccer & the MED (Make Ethical Decisions) or Completion of the previous “Senior Community Certificate” (Child, youth and senior)

NB: To clarify, if you are coaching female players who turn 11 in 2012 (born in 2001) or male players who turn 12 in 2012 (born in 2000) and you do not have your senior diploma (from the old system), you will need to complete Soccer for Life and MED.

Coaches of teams with players 12+ and older Male or 11+ and older Female

    • Completion of the new “Soccer or Life” course with Respect In Soccer & the MED (Make Ethical Decisions) or Completion of the previous “Senior Community Certificate” (Child, youth and senior)

NB:  To clarify, if you are coaching female players who turn 11 in 2012 (born in 2001) or male players who turn 12 in 2012 (born in 2000) and you do not have your senior diploma (from the old system), you will need to complete Soccer for Life and MED.

Respect In Soccer

At the December meeting, the Board of The Ontario Soccer Association determined that all competitive coaches in the province must meet certain minimum standards in order to be granted permission to coach at a competitive level in 2012.

All competitive-level coaches must complete the “Respect in Soccer” program by April 15th before the 2012 outdoor season.
