Markham was looking to defend their 2008 title and it was obvious from kickoff that they would be in for a stiff challenge as Oakville came into the game very motivated.
The first half was an intensely physical and tightly contested battle with scoring chances at a premium.
Neither side was able to capitalize on the few chances they managed and the half-time score remained 0-0.

The second half started with Markham upping the pace and intensity and they nearly took the lead five minutes in, but #9 Elvis Thomas saw his strike from inside the box come back off the post.
Oakville saw their best chance of the game 15 minutes into the second half, when #9 Hunter Madeley got onto the end of a good cross, but his volley was saved expertly by Markham goalkeeper Joe Nucifora.

The game opened up as the half progressed with both sides finding more quality chances but still unable to convert.
At the final whistle, neither side had found the back of the net in regular time, so the Masters Championship went into kicks from the penalty mark.
It was a marathon shoot-out, as all 11 kickers were used and a winner was not decided until the 14th round.
In sudden death, Dino Perri made the winning save to win the Masters Provincial Championship for Oakville and a ticket to the National Masters Championships.
