VAUGHAN, ON – Anthony Totera’s guest on this week’s TouchLine is:

  • Paul Beirne – Director of Business Operations for Toronto FC, a position which shares the general manager role with head coach Mo Johnston, on the renovations of BMO Field for 2010 including a new grass field, expanded seating capacity, TFC’s preparations for making the playoffs under new head coach Predrag "Preki" Radosavljević, the role of star players like de Rosario and de Guzman in the campaign, the outlook for TFC’s hosting another international friendly, the prospects for MLS expansion and Futbol in Canada, as well as on-going contract negotiations with the MLS Players’ Union. Beirne has become notable for his skill at being accessible to fans (supporters) through use of new media, including online discussion groups and video channels like OSATv TouchLine. Beirne’s professional sports management career includes stints with the Toronto Maple Leafs team of the National Hockey League, the Toronto Raptors of the National Basketball Association and the Toronto FC Major League Soccer franchise.
