Markham were first on the scoreboard when #7 Daniel Cramarossa hit a left-footed strike from outside the box to give his side a 1-0 lead.
Both sides traded good chances, but neither could convert and the half-time score remained 1-0.
The second half started with North Mississauga pressing for a goal, but Markham defended their lead tenaciously.

The Panthers almost had an equalizer in the 60th minute, but #19 Tony Li’s close-range header sailed just over the cross-bar.
The Panthers came close again five minutes later when #16 Jacob Miller’s shot also went inches over the bar.
Markham’s #11 Nico Kulas forced a good save from goalkeeper Andrew D’Souza, when Kulas found space and tried a shot from 25 yards out which was deflected over the cross-bar by D’Souza.
North Mississauga fought hard for a late goal but were unable to overcome the Markham defense as the final whistle blew and the Markham Lightning were crowned Ontario Cup Champions.
